The Great leap forward 1958-1962
Quote: "The socialist system will eventually replace the capitalist system; this is an
objective law independent of man's will. However much the reactionaries try to
hold back the wheel of history, eventually revolution will take place and will
inevitably triumph" - Mao, 1957
This was a five year economic plan created by Mao Zedong.
First the country was organized into 28,000 communes.
The concept was that there would be great industrial and scientific activity and growth.
With everyone working together there would be more muscle power for projects which involved building.
The two main industries which had an emphasis put on them were agriculture and steel production.
Due to people working in areas they were not familiar with there came issues in industries such as agriculture. This along with nature caused a huge famine that killed approximately 30,000,000 people.
Summary:
The Great Leap Forward was not a success. The overall effect that it had on China's economy and the lives of its people was negative.

Question: If the Great Leap Forward was a success could it have been the end to rallies and protests held in China?
