The Motives of the U.S.A. during the Paris Peace conference
The United States had wanted for complete Isolationism from the rest of the world.
The United States at that point in time was led by Woodrow Wilson the President of the time.
Woodrow Wilson had gone against the U.S. public's popular opiniion of wanting to keep seperate from world polotics and instead wanted for them to become a large part of them.
The United States also did not want for the War Guilt Clause to fall entirely on Germany.

The United States had entered into the war late, and some had thought that they should not have had as large a prescience in the talks as they did. What they did during the talks was trying to pursue a sense of moderation and trying not to make the situation worse. Although the United States public wanted to be seperate from the world, Woodrow Wilson had tried to better relations and to try to move away from isolationism of his country, with mixed results.
